“Life was given to us billions of years ago, what have we done with it? sounds like some type of philosophical or scientific question, but this is what Lucy is all about. It’s about life, how we live, and what we do with time.
Lucy is about a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal, then turns the table on her captors and transforms in to a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic. The movie follows Lucy(Scarlet Johansson), an ordinary woman who by a unexpected turn of events can suddenly access more than 10% of her brain, when an ordinary human can only access 10% or less. We soon find out what amazing things you can do when you reach that feat. This is what brings Lucy and Professor Norman( Morgan Freeman) together, professor is a scientist who studies brain activity.
I found certain parts of the movie interested such as in the beginning scenes, there were images of animals and their behavior. For example when Richard is trying to convince Lucy to do something for him, it cuts to a mouse sniffing cheese on an trap insinuating a mouse taking the bate. Certain parts of the movie I found not as interesting like when Professor Norman gives us a full Biology lesson on the Theory of Evolution and immortality and reproduction, I felt like I was in my college biology class. The theories and terms used in the movie could easily go over peoples heads and could be confusing, even though it does somewhat connect to Lucy’s story.
FINAL THOUGHT: Would I recommend this movie? Most likely not. Although I found the concept and the beginning great, I feel the movie didn’t end as good as it started.
I give this movie:***
